Isolation? Not much different here

Spring is on the way!

Living in the country has many benefits. One is finding ourselves already pretty much self-isolated without changing much in our routine. Due to my current medical restrictions, we’ve been using the grocery store pickup service since we came home in November. The only thing that has changed is how we get a pickup time (scheduled two days away & booked at midnight) and checking multiple times to get things we need. Because we live almost 30 minutes from a large grocery store, we always keep several weeks of goods on hand. We’ve upped that to where we’d be good for a month except for perishables. And eggs, we eat a lot of eggs!

The weather has been wet – a LOT of rain over the last month. But there have been a sporadic nice day, nice enough for Stu to get out and do a little yard work and mowing. During one of these days he encountered this visitor.

He was attempting to come into the back yard by crawling under the gate. He succeeded.

The next time Stu saw him, he was on the other side of the yard and trying to crawl under the fence and get to our pond.

Yes, he was a BIG snapper and not afraid of me and my iPhone, not one little bit! Stu managed to load him into our yard wagon and took me over the the BIG pond across the street. He’ll be much happier there (and so will the #2doods).

Speaking of the #2doods, you can see how much they are worried about this virus!

They do try to help me with my writing though…

The blue thing on the floor? That’s to help dry their feet when they come in – as I said, rain, lots of rain!

I did get Stu to go out for a motorcycle ride one day and since I haven’t left the house in over a month, we got me out on Friday. Here’s the route we took…nice ride on a nice day!

Rain is moving back in tonight along with much cooler temps. So for the third day in a row, I’m enjoying having the door to the deck open.

The virus? We’re being optimistic about our chances. While the two counties we shop in (Crossville/Cumberland County & Cookeville/Putnam County) have cases, our county doesn’t and the other two on either side of us don’t either. Many things are being postponed or canceled, including the Glasgow Highland Games we planned to attend over Memorial weekend. The movies are gone but we have plenty of things to keep us busy. We just miss getting out…

So we will continue self-isolating, checking on family, and hoping this all ends soon. At this point I suspect my surgery won’t happen until July or August. Time will tell. In the meantime, do all you can to keep you and yours healthy and safe!

Ciao for now!

Hope all is well. The virus certainly spreads quickly. We are staying at home as much as we can. Just local trips to get food as and when we need it. My wife is due to go to an outpatients appointment at the end of next week and we have been expecting it to get cancelled, but we will see.

Keep staying safe, Rob. This is one ugly virus. Our local doctors, primary & specialists, have cancelled all elective visits. They are offering telemedicine consults instead.
