Ups and Downs

I know, we haven’t blogged since the end of June. Not much to blog about, life continues on with daily chores as well as the ups and downs of life.

July 21st, Stu loaded up the motorcycle and headed north to Maryland. He wanted to attend the funeral for a co-worker, see family, and get his hearing aids fixed or replaced. He manged to do all three and had no major issues while gone.

Me? All was good – dealing with the dogs and chores and all was going well. Until the late afternoon a week after Stu left. Cooper is an escape artist and once again, he got out of the backyard. Knowing Stu could be gone for another week, I decided to use the leash for his last backyard visit for the night. Mistake… Our neighbor’s dog barked, Cooper lunged, and I was yanked to the ground. Hard!

Inside, I immediately started icing my shoulder and hip. Thank goodness it was my left side, I’d have been in real trouble if it were my right side since I’m right-handed. I made arrangements to get the dogs boarded until Stu got home. I knew I could get a neighbor to drive if I couldn’t manage. But manage I did – one-handed.

Stu got home on Sunday, returning a bit early (thank goodness). He got new hearing aids on Friday. He picked up the dogs on Monday and, needless to say, they were happy to see him (and me when they got home).

I have been sleeping on the recliner in the living room, it keeps me from putting pressure on the shoulder which still hurts. My hip is a nice dark bruise but doesn’t hurt. My shoulder turned into a yellow bruise, never dark and even that is almost gone now. I have twice tried the bed, but woke up too often with shoulder pain, so the recliner it is for a while more.

Other than that, August is busy with Murphy getting a growth on the back of his neck removed and biopsied. Then they go in a week later for their annual shots, followed by a mini-grooming the next day. I have my annual doctor visit the end of the month and if the shoulder is still hurting then, will see what she says I should do.

Stu had another electrician back out of working on the pole barn. Sigh…on to number four. So far, this one also sounds promising but only time will tell. He’d really like to get power installed by the end of September.

And what does September bring? We plan a short visit to Pigeon Forge and Dollywood for my birthday. It’s nice to actually get some use out of our season pass this year. We plan a December visit as well. September is also mammogram month – oh, goody. LOL! The rest of the month will be spent getting the RV ready to head to Maryland for six weeks. The last time we used it was Oct 2019 so lots of clean-up and prep to be done.

October in Maryland will see Stu going on the Red Helmet ride the first Saturday of the month, the wedding of one of our granddaughters in the middle of the month, and a luncheon with his retiree friends who still live in the area. When we get home, we have two weeks to get ready for our cruise the end of the month out of Tampa. At least we hope we’ll be going. Only time will tell…

Ciao for now!

Ah, life. Sorry about the ups and downs. Especially the down on the ground kind. Feel better soon.

Thanks, Trueda. Life is always an adventure (as you well know). I hope you and Michael are doing okay in the midst of all this.
