My mother always told the story that I was born around the change in the time and the doctor said she could choose Friday the 12th or Saturday the 13th. She referred to this poem and said she knew I’d need to work for a living and chose the 13th.
I suspect this decision was based upon her childhood. Orphaned with her older brother when she was around age three, she spent her life in foster homes. Working for a living was a part of her entire life. She was a registered nurse and worked full-time her entire married life until her death.
I’ve been fortunate to be able to semi-retire at age 50, fully retire at age 60 – at least from being out in the work force. I still work from home, as you all know, writing my books.
Ahhhh, cheers to me!
Happy, happy birthday, dear Donna! May you continue to enjoy life to the fullest riding your bike and exploring the world!
I saw a meme today that said “Friday the 13th is always better than Monday the whatever!” Cheers to that!
PS: I mentioned you in today’s post:
