Back home!

We finally made it home after a couple of “little” defugalties! But first, a short recap of what we did since our last post.

First was Stu’s 50th high school reunion. It was a three day event – quite the affair! We arrived Friday afternoon after dropping the #2doods off at doggy camp (thank you to Wye River Kennels) at the hotel/conference center in Bowie.

The first event was a gathering out on the patio for meets and drinks. The weather was cool and drizzly so I opted to stay in while Stu went down for a while. He came back to the room later and we went to the bar/restaurant and had drinks and a light dinner with good friends Bill and Loretto Cartney. Bill and Stu were best friends in school along with a missing friend, John Harmon.

A number of attendees went to the high school football game but we opted to stay back and keep chatting. Saturday morning there was a breakfast with the viewing of a movie about the area but we both slept in and missed that. Stu headed over to Target (shopping center next door) to pick up a few things while I rested in preparation for the evening events: dinner, drinks, dancing, & more.

The event was a huge success…here are a few pics.

And the best of all….

We had a late lunch/early dinner with Billy and Loretto at a fantastic little restaurant with great seafood, Edgewater Restaurant. It’s only 15-30 minutes from our driveway spot on Kent Island so we will visit there again.

Our next event was dinner out with Stu’s youngest, Melissa and grandbaby Waverly. Good food & drinks at Adams Grille & Tap House followed up by ice cream next door at Sweet Frog.

We spent Tuesday prepping the RV to head out Wednesday morning. No surprises, well, until Stu went to pull the rig forward to load the trike. BAM! Seems the hitch hadn’t locked and the trailer fell down onto the back deck of the truck. Not the first time, according to Stu. He soon had it jacked up and got it hitched properly.

We spent the first night in the Walmart parking lot in Front Royal, VA and the second night in the Walmart parking lot in Bristol, TN. We’ve stayed in both these spots several times. Great spots to stay one night. Well, should have been one night each.

We got up Friday morning with four hours left to go to get home. Freightliner wouldn’t start, dead batteries. Since the temps had gone down into the low 30s, not totally surprised. Several hours of charging, still nothing. Charged off the car battery, still nothing. Batteries were four years old and thank goodness, there was a Sam’s Club beside the Walmart and they had our batteries in stock.

Batteries bought, installed – truck throwing an error message. Water in the fuel filter. Had to laugh at this point. Stu heads out to get what needs to be replaced and by 4:30 the truck was running. Yeah, no. Not heading home to arrive in the dark. We spent another night and made it home midday Saturday.

Stu brought all the refrigerator food in as well as several smaller things we needed right away. The rest of the stuff, well 95% of it, was brought in today. I’m not allowed to lift so just doing put away and laundry duty. LOTS of laundry…LOL!

laundry day

Because the rig will be stored in the hobby barn for the winter, we are pulling all the clothes out and storing them inside. One more chance to cull out those things that don’t fit. LOL!

Tomorrow is another chore day, then Tuesday I go to see the urogynecologist in Knoxville to find out what’s in store for me. Other than that, things will be quiet. Lots of movies we want to see this month…that sounds like a plan to me!

Ciao for now!
