September is going by quickly and we’ve stayed busy. Here are some highlights.
Stu attended the 7th annual TN Fallen Firefighter Memorial Bike Ride. The weather was great but it made for a long day (and that’s why I didn’t attend, I can’t take more than 1-2 hours of riding anymore…sniff). There’s a great write-up and video on THIS PAGE. Here are a couple of photos Stu took.
From the Life360 app on my phone…
We purchased a few new things this past week. First was for my office. I’ve found I’m more productive there than I was on the sofa using a lap desk. So, we ordered an organizer cart for our B&W laser printer, a monitor, bluetooth keyboard, and a docking station set up for my desk. Here is Stu putting the cart together (he later added a dowel system to keep the drawers from accidentally dropping out , the only thing missing on the cart).
I spent the next day reorganizing all my office supplies and clearing off my desktop for the monitor/docking station setup. I tossed a lot of things that were no longer needed/wanted (mostly empty boxes) and just generally cleaned things up. This is my desk drawer, no longer over stuffed with “things”.
I had to clean out 85% of the things that were in the keyboard drawer and find new homes for them as well as the overflow from the desk drawer and open shelf above the drawer. This is a peek into the organizer drawers when I was done.
I’m also loving the desktop file tray/organizer you will see in the before/after photos below. I especially like the fact the trays slide out for easy access.

A few little things have changed since I took this picture. I’ve moved to a smaller tissue box and it sits behind my MacBook Pro. Can’t see my MacBook Air? It’s in the left back corner, held upright in a stand. Nifty! All in all, I’m quite pleased and finally getting used to the new keyboard.
Another addition: I subscribe to a daily newsletter from Brad’s Deals. Over the last couple of years we’ve scored some great sales. This week, we did again. We found a 65″ Vizio SmartCast HD TV for $433 at Walmart. We’ve been keeping an eye on TV sales, wanting to put a larger one in the living room and move the 45″ to our bedroom (where we had a smaller TV we got for free when we signed up for our internet service here). We found it at a local Walmart and Stu picked it up. With the help of our young neighbor, he got it mounted the same day AND got to 45″ moved to our bedroom. Quite happy with our purchase. This new TV has so many bells & whistles, we’ll never find them all.
And here is the old one, now in our bedroom along with the Roku box that is no longer needed with the new TV in the living room. Now I have Directv, Netflix, & Amazon Prime in the bedroom. (Yes, the dresser does need to be moved a bit to the right, but it’s HEAVY!)
And in closing, our local towns showing their support…
