It’s been a busy week, although not a productive one. We took the #2doods in for grooming and Tuesday and splurged with breakfast at McD’s. We followed that with the lovely task of getting our second shingles shot. By the time we got home, the day was pretty well shot.
Stu had almost no reaction to the second shot (and none to the first). I had a 3 day medium-strength headache and some aches with the first, but the second – oh my! It was Saturday before my arm was close to normal – I had a big local reaction with a large area (the size of the palm of my hand) becoming hard, swollen, red, hot, and itchy. Fatigue, chills, fever joined in the fun. After taking the weekend off from writing, it was Friday afternoon before I got in any more.
But it’s still better than getting shingles!!! (For those who wonder, yes – we did pay a deductible for our shots. They aren’t covered by basic Medicare, they are covered under whatever prescription plan you carry. Our cost was $35 a shot for a total of $140 for all four.)
We have some unusual (to us) mushrooms in our front planting spot (awaiting new shrubs next spring). Turns out they come with the mulch. Stinky much but not poisonous. It’s common name is Stinkhorn but it’s scientific name is Phallus impudicus.
Stu has been waking up early, nothing really new for him, but managed to snag some awesome sunrise photos this week. Here are a couple of them.
And last, but never least, here are some fun pics of the #2doods – a constant source of amusement.
We often let them lick our bowls when we have finished a service of ice cream or yogurt. They usually come to the living room when we clink the spoons in the bowls, sit, and wait for the OK command. But sometimes Murphy is just TOO tired. This was one of those times…
When we replaced our king size bed pillows, I hated throwing the old ones in the trash so dug out some pillow cases and tossed them into the dog crates. Yup, they love them!
We plan for a quiet Thanksgiving at home. Stu will cook our turkey breast in our Cuisinart Convection/Air Fryer. We’ll have some Stove Top stuffing, turkey gravy, cranberry jelly, little red garlic potatoes, and asparagus.
And we all wish you and yours a wonderful, safe, healthy Thanksgiving week!
That turkey is adorable!!
