We left a day early due to the impending winter storms in our area. It was a good decision. We also changed our route to avoid the worst of the storms, another good decision. We spent two nights outside Tuscaloosa, Alabama in a nice little (small) Best Western. To kill time on the second day, we went to the movies and saw Tom Hanks in A Man Called Otto. Excellent movie, but take tissues! It’s sort of a combination of Gran Torino and Up. We both really liked it.
It was cold both days and today is a bit warmer, thanks to a lot of sun. We are in Slidell, LA at the same Best Western where we stayed in Jan 2020 for our last cruise out of New Orleans (when we came back to the start of the pandemic).
The only defugalty was my forgetting to pack my little travel fan that I use on the nightstand. That’s a must for me. Discovered that the first night so quickly logged into Amazon, found a USB fan for under $14, free delivery, and it could be at our hotel in Slidell on Saturday. When we arrived, there it was! I’m a happy camper (and a cool one).
We’re less than an hour from the cruise port, so barring any issues we should be having our first drink by noon (and noshing out on Guy’s Burgers).
