And he tried…but the end result was just a lot of shingles blown off the roof and one shutter off a front window. We were under a high wind warning all day, a severe thunderstorm watch for several hours, a sever thunderstorm warning for an hour, and a tornado watch for a couple of hours. Fun day!

Stu climbed up and took some photos of the roof (which are on my desktop which is shut down), we submitted a claim to our insurance company, and someone will be out on Monday. I suspect this is the original roof which would make it about 16 years old. No idea if we can shingle over or if it might need to be completely redone. Just hope our insurance covers most of it.

After the worst of the wind and rain.

Our power went off at 2pm on Friday and we fired up our generator (best money we have spent on a big ticket item). We ran it until around 10-11pm, then fired it up again this morning around 6am. There was massive damage all around our area and as far west as Nashville (where friends are out of power as well). We have plenty of propane, in fact, we are still running on the initial 100# tank we started with and it’s 1/3 full. Not sure if we will get power today or not. The numbers in our county keep fluctuating. They were at a high yesterday of around 5500, today down to a low of just under 1000. Our issue is the transformer beside our pole barn, so less than twenty homes are impacted. That means we are at the bottom of the pile. Again, thank goodness for our generator! The only thing not on is our hot water heater. It runs everything else including our HVAC unit.

In other news, I ordered a small fabric style dresser for our bedroom and two new laundry hampers (since the dresser replaced our old hamper) for the bathroom. The dresser was too tall with the enclosed legs, so we just used the pegs. Both turned out pretty good and all reasonably priced at Amazon. We have emptied out two of our big dresser drawers each and they now hold our wool items enclosed in sweater bags for moth prevention.

Drawers are actually fabric boxes with a wood base. Surprisingly sturdy. The frame is steel.

Now Stu will remember where to put lights vs darks. LOL!

Today has been nice, a bit cool but sunny. Stu has headed into town to get a tarp to put on the roof before the rains hit again. He’s being doubly nice and bringing back dinner, a Hook & Iron sub from Firehouse Subs. Yummy!

Ciao for now!
