She’s leaving – but not on a jet plane

Yup, just me, hitting the road solo. On Tuesday the 7th, I head towards Appleton, Wisconsin for a four day writer’s conference. I attended the Writer’s Police Academy back in 2014 and really enjoyed it. That was probably my last solo road trip and was done while we were back in the states for two months during our time in Ecuador (2013-2015).

It’s a two day drive for me. I leave from central time, spend the night in eastern time, arrive in Appleton in central time. Now that should be interesting. I expect 7-8 hours of drive time with stops on both Tuesday and Wednesday.

I started packing a week ago, have unpacked and repacked twice. Some due to weather, some due to my brain in overdrive when trying to sleep. I am using my new 19″ TravelpPro Maxlite 5 suitcase – we bought two to use as carry-on cases for Europe. We will be flying bargain airlines and the restrictions are much tighter than in the US.

I’m taking (and wearing during my drive days) mostly merino. I know I have too many tops, but they don’t take up much room and I like to have choices. LOL! If you are looking at merino items, I highly recommend the following: wool& for dresses, Woolx for leggings and tops, Allbirds for shoes. I have also bought from Woolly, REI, Ridge Merino, and Amazon as well as Poshmark and ebay.

This is a great test of the suitcase before packing for Europe and no, this won’t be my only suitcase. LOL!

I will be back home on Tuesday the 13th, so no blogging or much social media for a week. I know I will be exhausted when I get home and it will take me a week to recuperate. Too many people, hard on us introverts.

Oh, and a little side note. This will be the first time since we bought the house that I’ve left Stu at home with the #2doods! He’ll have fun – he’s already shipping them off for two days while he goes motorcycling with his buddy Earl.
