Our daughter’s journey with breast cancer continues. Initially, it was one small tumor with a lumpectomy and some chemo. After additional testing, the original tumor is much larger than thought, a second tumor was found, and there was also lymphatic involvement.
Her current treatment plan is to have six courses of chemo (consisting of four different drugs), taking 5-6 hours each, with a three week break in between each one. That will be followed with a mastectomy and hopefully a reconstruction at the same time.
She is a behavioral counselor for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and works as an independent contractor. That means no pay for days not worked. There will be many no work days in the months ahead.
Here are some links to follow her journey and help support her during her battle with breast cancer:
- Sheri’s personal journal
- Sheri’s GoFundMe (even $5 helps – and please share the link)
- Facebook Tupperware Party in support of my daughter (great for you or gifts, and share the link)
Believe it or not, there is a small silver lining to the change in the treatment plan. With the mastectomy delayed to maybe February or March, I will be able to fly out to be with her for a couple of weeks during the surgery and initial recovery.
