That’s right – we may not leave until Monday, but we’re more than ready. We’ve packed up everything we think we will need (and the kitchen sink might be in there somewhere), but remember…we’re gone for two months and we will be dealing with temps from the 40s (Scotland in late October) to the 90s (Florida in mid-September).
I packed first (yes, I’m an over-planner and an over-packer). I managed (barely) to get it all in my backpack, 19″ TravelPro Maxlite 5 suitcase, and 21″ Delsey Helium Spinner suitcase.
Two days later, we tackled packing for Stu. As hard as we tried, we just couldn’t make it all fit in the same suitcases. So he ended up with his backpack, 19″ TravelPro Maxlite 5 suitcase, and 25″ Delsey Helium Spinner suitcase.
We have three flights on Ryanair (a budget airline in Europe) and their baggage restrictions for carry-ons are specific and restrictive. It took forever to find a good backpack that will fit their under the seat measurements. The 19″ suitcases are supposed to fit – keeping our fingers crossed. We already prepaid for the 21″ and 25″ bags to be checked. Phew!
The #2doods are getting groomed tomorrow before heading off to doggy camp (their second home) on Friday. We know they will be well taken care of for the two months we are gone. We will miss them but we know they will be too busy playing with all their friends to miss us much.
We’ve had most of our family have (or added) WhatsApp so we can all be in touch if needed. I will have WiFi on the ships (assuming they don’t lose satellite contact) and my phone number should be in service during our month in Europe. If all goes well, it won’t be needed but better safe than sorry.
We will be visiting family while in Florida on both ends of our trip. Our car will be based at my brother’s in Vero Beach. We rented a car from Budget that we will drive to their port shuttle office in Port Canaveral. We did the opposite on our return, getting shuttled from the Ft Lauderdale Budget office to pick up our rental car and drive back to Vero.
What can I say – life is good!
When I grow up, I want to be just like you! I will miss you, but I’m so happy you and Stu are able to go on this trip. Have loads of fun!
We are both so excited! Hoping I can blog a bit but will also post photos on my two Instagram accounts, @dbmcnicol and @donn_in_wool
Have a wonderful trip and be safe. Can’t wait to hear and see pictures when you are back.
Will hopefully post some photos while gone. It will take me days to get them all uploaded once home. LOL!
