As many of you know, our two month European was our big blow out, expense-wise. Then factor in rebuilding the deck with composites. Toss in a new vehicle and finances are stretched even more. That meant no cruising in 2024. Plus, no cruising in 2025.
But guess what? We just booked a Panama Canal full-transit cruise from Ft Lauderdale to Vancouver, B.C. in April 2026 on Holland America’s Koningsdam. It’s 22 days with stops in a lot of ports we’ve never been to, including San Francisco.
A little history on San Francisco. My late husband and I both traveled extensively in the US during our careers. The one city we both wanted to see but had never been to was San Francisco. We had booked our trip and our nephew had paid for rental Harley-Davidson motorcycles for both of us. A couple days before we were to leave, my husband (who was fighting terminal cancer) got sicker. The day we were due to leave, he was admitted to the hospital and never came home. So San Francisco will be a bittersweet stop for me, but an important one.
We’re both excited since we love the planning. No free laundry on this trip, but with my wool, I’ll be fine. Oh, Stu has several wool shirts, too. LOL! But we did get the HAVE IT ALL plan like we did when we cruised back from Barcelona on Holland America. Premium WiFi, beverage package (which means all the cappuccino I can drink), excursion allowance, and gratuities. We get onboard credit from our AARP membership, Stu’s first responder status, and as a stockholder. Life is good!
Well, that’s looking ahead! Hope you have a great time!
Really excited that we got a good rate…
So excited for you two! I have a similar story about my husband and the British Isle. Happy you have a plan to go see San Francisco
Just keeping my fingers crossed it all comes together! 2026 is a bit of a ways off.
