Our weather has been strange…too warm for fall, too warm for winter, cold, wind, wet, too warm again, bitter cold, a little snow, warmer, back to wind/rain/snow. But that hasn’t bothered either Stu or the #2doods.
In addition to getting back on our lower carb way of eating, Stu has started an activity plan. His Apple Watch helps him track things and it motivates him as well. We have an elliptical that we bought after his double knee replacement. Since then it’s only been used sporadically. I like it but since I didn’t use it on a regular basis, I have no stamina. In addition, I can’t use it right now but look forward to next spring being able to get on it. Stu has gone from a minute at a time up to five minutes at a time. This in addition to his walking the #2doods, rain or shine, for thirty minutes every day. Proud of him!
I’ve been tackling paperwork….sorting & filing nine months of stuff in preparation for sorting through receipts for taxes. Our 1099s will be filtering in soon and if I have my expense spreadsheet ready, it will be quick and easy to fill in the rest before sending to the gal who does our taxes. Really wanting to get this off my head!
We had a quiet New Year’s Day, Stu made my new favorite dish – Green Pepper Philly Cheese Steaks. Yum!! Add in a little wine and we were good to go for the night. And yes, we did manage to stay up until midnight and even watched the Disney fireworks on TV.
The #2doods are maturing, both will be three this year. Cooper in early April and Murphy in early July. We see them settling in nicely and we so enjoy having them around.
In other news, I pulled the trigger on a new laptop. I was going to do it last spring but it never worked out. I’ve been watching the sale prices throughout the holidays but they just weren’t a significant enough savings to warrant getting what I wanted.
I follow several Apple tech newsletters and sometimes see a good deal there on both hardware and software. This weekend was no exception. B&H Photo had the exact laptop I wanted for $1200. It’s a MacBook Air with retina display (a must for me) with 16GB of memory and a 512GB Solid State Drive. Even adding a few accessories, it was still way under the price for a refurbished unit at Apple. How could I resist? Well, I could, at least until I saw I could get it with zero interest payments. Yup! It will arrive on Wednesday so you know what I will be doing all day Thursday and Friday.
Yes, I know it’s a discontinued model, but so was my MacBook Pro when we got it in 2015 (being a late 2013 model). It’s done me well for over four years and will remain as my backup computer. I will find a new home for my 11″ MacBook Air (without retina display) that used to be my travel computer. Yes, I’m excited!
I will continue to try to blog weekly on Sundays, more often if something warrants it. I have a lot going on this month and I really, REALLY want to get back to writing my two current WIPs. Medical exams notwithstanding, once the taxes are done I hope to write 2-3 hours every day. Okay, most every day. LOL! I think we are pretty ready for our cruise in February, all we have to do is pack – drop off the dogs – drive!
What does the retina display do?
It’s a higher resolution display. My close vision with all my floaters isn’t the best and the non-retina is blurrier to me.
