Back Home…

My trip to Colorado wasn’t for the nicest reason but I was so glad to be there for my daughter during her double mastectomy. Her son was there, driving in from Kansas, as well as her husband. The surgery went well and believe it or not, she went home the same day. Pizza was dinner and we all enjoyed it.

I took a lot of photos during my stay, some of family, some of my daughter during her recovery, some of the scenery, some of the flights, and a TON of the family pets (Mitzi the cat, Luci the Min-Pin, Charley the Chihuaha-Pom). You can see them all HERE.

After an interesting trip, I made it home very late on Wednesday night. The flight from Colorado Springs was short and sweet. No issues. Denver airport was another story. First gate was in the same concourse but a long ways away. I stopped in the middle for a quick McD’s break and discovered the new mini-sized Filet-o-Fish. About three of my fingers together cross wise…and $6. Egad!

Once I’d eaten, I continued on to my gate to wait out my almost two hours that were left in my layover. About 30 minutes before boarding, they moved us to another gate. You guessed it, back almost to where I started. But I only got to spend fifteen or twenty minutes there before they moved us again. Fortunately, this one was only a couple gates away.

While we waited, needless to say we were delayed, we saw several law enforcement officers waiting to go down the walkway to the plane. Curious about what had happened, we eventually saw them come out with a young man in a hoodie (I know, so stereotypical). About six officers and another six airline/airport employees. The crew came out and talked to our crew that was waiting but it wasn’t until a short time later we heard what happened. Seems as though that young man thought it was okay to smoke weed on the plane. Yikes!

The one bright spot in all my waiting was seeing this beautiful doodle come up to board (not our flight, one of the gates where we didn’t depart from).

My flight was delayed slightly over an hour, arriving at 10PM. We stopped at McDs for drinks before continuing home. I don’t know why, but the trip seemed longer that it did before. Maybe because it was night?

Stu shampooed our carpet while I was gone. We hadn’t done it in several years and with Murphy gone, it was time get rid of his odors. Sigh… Stu put his collar, mini license plate that was on his crate, and his Xmas photo from our boarding place on his portrait from Chewy (as a puppy). He will never be forgotten.

Stu continues to work on setting up his pole barn and I spent some time reorganizing closets. A lot more stuff found their way into the donation tote (and I’m sure we’re not done). My next major project is to start scanning all the photos I have in a tote bag. They’ve been waiting for over fifteen years. LOL! Guess it’s time…

Ciao for now!

So glad that you’re back home, you had a good (regardless of the reason) trip, and especially that your daughter is doing well. Hard to believe they didn’t keep her at least overnight. Crazy. An emotional few weeks for you, between your daughter & sweet Murphy — I hope you take some time to recuperate & reflect.

We were all shocked that it was considered outpatient surgery. Wow! But she did amazing. All three of her doctors and their staffs are wonderful, so glad I got to meet them all. I miss Murphy terribly but I know he’s in a happier place now.
