CAUTION: PHOTO INTENSIVE BLOG POST
You read that right, all ELEVEN concrete footers are done. Stu got most of the water out via the Shop Vac and two days of sun helped out. Now, the image above may give credit to Stu, but he couldn’t have done it without our good friend Earl helping out. That, along with the concrete mixer and a wheelbarrow with a spout that Stu had purchased.
They had planned on only doing the first five on the outer edge, but things went so well, they did the final six (including digging the holes) after lunch. Here are some photos and videos of the process. You can see ALL the deck rebuild photos HERE.
Today Stu is removing as much of the cardboard Sakrete tubes as he can, at least the part that shows. They will disintegrate over time, regardless. He’s also back-filling the holes around the footers. We have rain in the forecast most of the next week, then we head to Maryland for a week. When we get back, Stu will head back out, after a week at home, for two more weeks. Looking like it will be July before much more gets done.
But he still hopes to get a couple of the 6×6 support posts installed before we leave for Maryland. Fingers crossed!
And just for fun – here’s a snippet of Cooper racing around.
He enjoyed visiting in the backyard while they were working.
WOW that is some MAJOR project Stu is undertaking and doing a GREAT job for sure. Gotta LOVE seeing Cooper doing his zoomies around the yard! I bet Stu is sleeping good for sure.
It is major and we will both be SO happy when it’s done!! We have a new patio set and Blackstone grill waiting to be used! They are stored in the pole barn right now.
Looks great! Hey you are coming my way. I hope crossing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge is smooth sailing straight across. Leigh
Thank, Leigh. Another quick trip, unfortunately we will be traveling around the holiday. Ugh!
