A quiet 4th…

We’re spending a quiet day at home, trying to stay cool and hydrated. Stu’s materials have started to arrive – remember the fourth date post? Well, we ended up with a fifth date and Lowe’s managed to deliver about 1/3 of the materials he’s ordered. More is due to be delivered on Saturday.

We both like the color we picked in the Trex® boards,  hard to see but here’s a photo.

The man who delivered it was great and moved the boards from the truck to the sawhorses in the backyard.

He told Stu now that he knows where to deliver them, we don’t have to be home (although we have nowhere to be). Stu said these are the perimeter boards and he has now moved them off the sawhorses so they are ready for the next load. He also got the last of the gravel spread underneath so that’s ready.

The extreme heat is really limited the amount of time Stu can work on the deck. Mornings until around11:30, then back out around 3:30 for a couple more hours. But I know it will be done before October, right? LOL!

Yesterday he had his eye appointment and we opted for an early dinner before heading home. We love Cracker Barrel, but I have to say this was the worst meal I’ve ever eaten there. Stu said his was good. Mine was a tasteless, unseasoned, overcooked burger on way too thick of a bun and topped with bread & butter pickles along with the mayo, lettuce and tasteless tomato. The steak fries were “ok” but nothing to rave about. I’ll go back to meatloaf and blueberry pancakes from now on.

Ciao for now!
