#SecretSubjectSwap: Guys have it made?

What is the Secret Subject Swap. Simply put, a group of bloggers submit ideas, topics, or questions to be answered in a post. Then the hostess, Karen @BakingInATornado.com, divies the ideas back out to the participating bloggers. Then they write. These brave bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were in turn assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Here are links to the blogs featuring their Secret Subject Swap posts today. So sit back, grab a cuppa, and check them out. You’re bound to find one to enjoy and maybe even promote some thoughts of your own.

Here are this month’s brave bloggers:

Here is my assigned topic for this month from Part-time Working Hockey Mom:

“Some guys have all the luck.“ True or false?

I had to give this one a lot of thought as I searched for a photo to go with the topic. Initially I searched for “guys” and “fun”. Nothing jumped out at me. As I searched I tried to think about how guys have it made over girls. But I also thought about all the things they do worry about, the same as women, as well as how girls/women are doing more and more things once reserved for the guys. That makes men worry.

So my next search was for “worry”. I found two pictures that prompted thoughts that would work for fiction stories. But I wasn’t done. The more I thought about it, the more I considered the word SOME. That could point to a more generic interpretation and I searched for the word “lucky”.

Finding several photos that would work as a fiction prompt, I decided to take a short break and write this preface to my contribution this month.

Doing it (writing what I just wrote above) made me think more – do I write about real life or do I write a story? Hmmm… I read the prompt again. “True or false?” That would seem to denote a real life post.

So I’ve opted to interpret this literally and written a very short story. Enjoy! (I hope…)

“Dad, why does mom always say that us guys have it made?”

“She sees things from her perspective, not ours.”

“What’s a perspective?”

“Her point of view.”

“Oh.”

The duo continued to watch the sunset from their perch on the roof of the garage.

“But I still don’t understand. Why does she think that? I think it’s tough being a guy.”

“I know and sometimes it is. But to her, sometimes we do have it made.”

“Like when?”

“Well,” he leaned over and whispered, “We do have it made when it comes to taking a bathroom break outdoors!”

Ciao for now!

I like to pick my stories around the images I find as well! Glad I’m not the only one. As someone who has had to squat outside quite a bit they do have it made that way!

I found out long ago I need visual aids – I have photos for all my main characters in my novels as well as location pictures to help me. I’ve been known to take random photos of people when I’m out and about, just to use later on as a hint for me.

Reminds me of an old joke…little boy and little girl having lunch outside when both need to “go”. She squats, he stands. “What a handy thing to have on a picnic!”

My late husband used to say that all the time…LOL! Part of the reason I “discovered” my take on the subject. Thanks for visiting!
