More About Us
Stu is a retired firefighter with 31 years working for the Anne Arundel County (MD) Fire Department. He and his late wife Lin, were full-time RVers while they continued to work. They had an RV lot in Maryland. They hit the road after Stu retired in 2007. Unfortunately, Lin was diagnosed with a brain tumor and passed unexpectedly in March of 2007.
Stu rode motorcycles in his younger years but took a long hiatus until purchasing the initial Big Red, a 1998 Harley-Davidson Electra-Glide with a Champion Trike conversion. He rode Big Red for several years before moving up to the the second Big Red, a 2009 Harley-Davidson Tri-Glide. In 2012, he upgraded to a third Big Red in order to have the improvements and upgrades of the newer bike. Finally, in 2014, Harley-Davidson released a water-cooled Tri-Glide. Big Red III and Donna’s 2011 Harley-Davidson Super Low (Gypsy), were traded on a 2015 Tri-Glide named Black Cherry.
Donna is a retired IT worker with over 30 years in the industry, from programmer through to management. She and her late husband, Mike, full-timed for two years in an Allegro Class A motorhome while they worked as fiber optic construction inspectors. When he was diagnosed with cancer, they sold the motorhome and settled back into a house.
Widowed in 2004, she traveled the country solo in 2005, riding 27k miles through 42 states on her 2005 Harley-Davidson Softail Deluxe. In 2007 she sold her home in Sparta, TN, bought a used Fleetwood Tioga Class C motorhome and hit the road with her 2006 BMW F-650 GS. She had sold the BMW when she met Stu in July 2008 and was towing a small car. She ended up getting back on two wheels with a 2009 Harley-Davidson Nightster, nicknamed Twister. As soon as Harley introduced the Super Low, Twister was traded in for Gypsy. After many happy miles on Gypsy, including a two month trip following Route 66, Donna retired from her two wheel riding and now is a passenger on Black Cherry.
Stu met Donna at the Gillette WY Escapade in July 2008, they married in April 2009 and currently live and travel in a 41′ KZ Escalade toy hauler fifth wheel pulled by a medium duty Freightliner. Both love cruising where Stu indulges his love of scuba diving and Donna works on writing her mystery books.
