MIA for a bit…

So excited! We heading out the end of the week to drive to New Orleans where we will board the Carnival Glory on Sunday for our cruise to the Panama Canal. Our good friends Pauline & Earl are going as well. We’ve been to both the canal and all the ports we are stopping at but they haven’t.

In fact, our first cruise together was in November of 2009 when we took a Princess cruise out of Ft Lauderdale to the canal. We really enjoyed it, even with the heat. This time around, some of the ports are the same as that cruise and the others are ones that we have done on other cruises.

Stu has booked scuba diving at three of the ports: Aruba, Bonaire & Cozumel. He has dived them all before but every time is different. The other ports are: Limon (Costa Rica), Cartegna (Columbia), Montego Bay (Costa Rica), and (of course) the Panama Canal.

The last time we visited the canal, we saw some of the lock procedure but we left for a day long tour (by bus, then train) and missed going through to the lake and the turn around. This time we will stay on board for the entire process.

Since I have been to all these ports and since I am still medically restricted (more on that later), I will be staying on board during all the port stops. That’s okay because I really hope to get some serious writing done during the fourteen days on board. Time will tell…

Okay, the guys can go outside now, it’s time for some girl talk. I had the two pre-op tests done in the last two weeks and the surgery for my pelvic floor prolapse is definitely scheduled for March 23rd after a pre-op anesthetist appointment on the 7th (bloodwork, EKG).

I have a stage 3 of all three compartments in the pelvic floor, uncomfortable for the most part. But if I walk too much, irritation starts and it gets more uncomfortable. You can push things back into place but they don’t stay there. I’ve been avoiding any heavy lifting, straining, and walking. So on the cruise, I will minimize my walking as much as I can but I am hoping the gym will have a recumbent bicycle and that I can use it to help up my calorie burn. We all know about the food on a cruise…LOL!

I love my doctor and Stu got to meet him on Wednesday and liked him as well. He is the director of his department and I have complete confidence in him and his skills. I will be in the hospital overnight, probably discharged around noon the next day. While it is major surgery, I don’t anticipate any issues.

#2doods made themselves at home – doggy day care/boarding

Oh, don’t worry about the #2doods while we are on our cruise, they love their doggy day care/boarding spot and they love them. We’re doubly excited they are adding a new groomer to their services. They are about twenty minutes away so very convenient and they love dogs. They took this photo and pasted it on their Facebook page. Take a peek!

Ciao for now!
