So what’s up next?

I think I may have mentioned that we planned to rebuild our deck this spring. The first step in this process is moving part of the backyard fencing from its current location behind the shed up to the front edge of the garage. Why? So we have a way to let Cooper in and out since the deck won’t have stairs for weeks.

We looked at adding a doggy door but they were too expensive for a temporary need. Then we researched old used doors to replace our less than two year old door and Stu would use a DYI solution with a flap of nearly clear plastic.

Then he hit on the perfect solution. We use a magnetic screen on the current deck door and he’s used to running in and out through it when the weather allows. We already have a new one that we had planned to install last year due to tears in the current one. Well, the new one will be installed and the old one added as a temporary access for him, leaving the wood door open during the day. We’ll just have to get used to him asking to come in at the utility room door. LOL!

So tomorrow Stu and our good friend Earl will get the fence moved. Then this weekend, Stu will tackle to doors.

And just so you don’t miss him too much, here’s a couple of pics of Cooper.

And here’s a picture of Stu hard at work creating saw horses, with the concrete beside him. He already has a cement mixer and a wheelbarrow that will pour the concrete into the footer holes.

After that, Stu will start putting in the new concrete footers for the deck. He is slowly acquiring all the materials for that. The concrete was delivered today and he’s building saw horses. We will order the rest of the deck materials in upcoming weeks. We have to work around a 2-6 week delivery period AND two trips to Maryland for graduations and 21st birthdays.

Here are some photos of things he’s done in the pole barn – a jack stand for the four heavyweight jacks, his VERY old drill press that he refurbished and then mounted on a cabinet, and the robin’s nest in the pallets behind the barn.

Ciao for now!

He’s a goldendoodle – his mother was a poodle and his father was a goldendoodle. That makes him 3/4 poodle and 1/4 golden retriever.
