Is he done yet?

When we last left you, Stu had just bought (for me) six lilac bushes. Well, in between the rain drops, he got them planted. That puts us just under 100 new trees and bushes planted this spring. Phew! But is he done?

Well, I thought so, but he had other ideas. He saw an ad for raised planter beds and decided to order three to put under the outer edge of the deck. It will be gravel behind and this will help stop grass creep underneath – he hopes. It will also make it easy to weedeat the edges of the containers. So far he has one done, then the rain moved in.

It took both of us to move this off the deck and he realized he should have done it in the yard. He’ll set up some sawhorses for the next two. I suspect those won’t get done until he returns from Maryland in early June.

With all the rain and cooler temps this week, the birds are loving the bird feeder. We have four suet holders and two are already empty. I suspect they are the peanut ones, the birds love those. Stu repainted the old feeder that was getting pretty rusty. It looks good. We checked the replacement price on Amazon and it had doubled since we bought this one. We prefer it since it stops the squirrels from getting into it. While browsing ads the other day, Stu saw the same one at Rural King for $20 less than Amazon so we picked one up for when this one completely dies.

Yesterday was a movie day. Nine years ago the movie The Accountant came out and we both loved it. We hoped there would be a sequel and eventually it came out, The Accountant2. We wanted to go on Sunday but I overslept, so we planned on Tuesday even though the showing was later in the day. We weren’t disappointed. We did wish we had taken time to watch the original since several of the characters from that were back. So, if you plan to see it, try to watch the first one on streaming beforehand. It won’t take away from the story if you don’t, but it will definitely add to the backstory and understanding of the second.

Talking about heading into neighboring Cookeville for the movies, it was an interesting drive. We left just after noon and it was overcast with some sun peeking through. As we rolled down a hill on the backroad when we headed to the interstate, a young doe was standing on the side of the road. We slowed and beeped and she fortunately headed back into the woods. Being the middle of the day, that rarely happens around here. Phew number one.

Next on the list, we noticed a big dump truck coming from the opposite direction. He was almost half in our lane. He kept coming, we swerved to the shoulder and honked. He finally pulled back into his lane just as he passed us. Phew number two.

Then, almost to the interstate, Stu check the traffic as we turned left. Another dump truck had his directional on. Guess what, as we turned in front of him, he didn’t turn. We made it but the driver was unhappy. Phew number three. That one would have been our fault…

Still raining today, Stu took the Honda Ridgeline into town for an oil change and picked up some road food at Sam’s Club for his Maryland trip. Me, just reading and blogging – the normal stuff.

Ciao for now!

He won’t although we are trying to make things easier in the long run. The beds will have perennials (but I know they will still need weeding). LOL!
