Phew!

Just a quick update…first, Stu made it home without any issues. That’s my big PHEW.

Next, August rolled in with high temperatures, rain, and severe storms. Oh, and power outages. Oh my! One was while Stu was gone and was due to the severe storms in the area.

The outage lasted until well into the evening and this photo I borrowed from a friend on Facebook, shows just some of the power damage. This was the area that took out our power.

Many, many homes were out….I was glad for battery lanterns and power banks. We have UPS boxes on our computers and router, but this one even took out the internet. I ended up plugging my iPad and iPhone into power banks and using my phone as a hotspot. I was SOOOO glad when it came back on and SOOOO thankful it had dropped the temperature outside, keeping the house comfortable.

The next day, I ordered this – two rechargeable lanterns. They came and are great, even Stu liked them. They can run off batteries but I like the rechargeable aspect. We have a ton of power banks that we’ve collected for travel, and it the internal battery dies, we can just plug into one of these.

The second was while Stu was home and when we saw this posted in Facebook, he fired up our generator. Seems as though a dump truck didn’t put his bed down and took out the power. Oops! Fortunately, it came back on fairly soon.

The other PHEW is for my daughter in Colorado who was diagnosed with breast cancer last week. We’re doing all we can to support her from a distance. She has a great team working for her in this battle. Fortunately she is 100% covered for all expenses by the VA from her military service.

She has a blog and a private Facebook group, a way to journalize her fight as well as find support from others. I ordered one of these bracelets for her and one for me. Several others in the Facebook group also ordered one to wear throughout her journey.

Stu is taking on as many of the Europe To Do list items as he can to help me. We still have a long way to go, but we can make it – together! Our flights are booked, next time-sucking thing is local transportation between cruise ports & hotel as well as hotel & airport. Fun, fun!

Ciao for now!

    Donna,
I will be keeping your daughter in my prayers for a complete recovery and remission. It is always a shock to be told you have cancer! But if she’s like you, she will battle through and come out on the other side renewed! Much love to you, Dotty

Thank you. She has a medical background and is dealing quite well. Her surgery is scheduled and chemo will follow. It’s a long road as you well know. Love to you & Bill!
